My expectations :)

My expectations...

Hello! Talking about the last practicum I, It was an amazing experience because I have never taught to children. I felt happy and I really enjoyed to apply methodology and teaching techniques  with children learning process.

Now, I feel excited and motivated in this Practicum II:Teaching to teenangers. I work as English teacher in a public Highschool, and I consider that teenagers are the best age group, because they are motivated, energetic and smart.

My expectations are the best, because I  really enjoy to teach to teenagers, I will apply different activities that help the learning process. Also, I consider that a big challengue for us will be the fact that others teachers will evaluate us.

On  the other hand, I have learn a lot about teenagers' behavior, I understand that their behavior is related to ther physical and emotional changes in that stage. They change their mood quickly because of the developent in their brains. It's important for us as teachers that we understand their behavior, emotions in order to we know how to deal with it.

Also, I have learned about how to talk to a teenager and how much important is discipline into the classroom. And, we need to propiciate a confortable environment that helps them in the learning process. We need to talk them with authority and keep the line beetween Discipline and Fun.

Finally, when we plan our classes; we need to take in to account the types of activities that we will apply. Some aspects that are elemental are:

  • Activities that catch their attention
  • Activities that motivate them to participate
  • Topics that are related to their interests
  • The use of materials or resources that like them
  •  To create a environment in which they feel safe and comfortable to participate

As conclusion, I have good expectations about this practicum II and I want to do the best as teacher in order my students learn. I feel excited about to teach them.

  1. Hello Iliana,

I am convinced that you were born to be a teacher. Of course you have some experience already and that is a plus you have in contrast to your classmates who are teaching for the first time. The good thing about this is that through your examples, some of them might get the inspiration to teach. I want to tell you that I could see the activities and the materials you prepared for the first and second lesson, and I can say they had the characteristics you just listed above. So Iliana, keep doing the things you know and believe are effective for the students, because sometimes we know a lot about theory but show very little in the practice.

I hope the next of your lessons can be observed by a colleague of mine in order to have a second opinion.
